The first pencil skirt was designed by Christian Dior in 1954 as part of his H – line series. One of the features of the pencil skirt is that the emphasis is on the hip as the skirt is fitted from the waist; curves over the hip and slims down towards the knee, with the hem line rising and falling as trends dictates.
It is a slim–fitting skirt with a straight narrow cut. Perhaps one of the attractions of the pencilskirt is that it is a timeless, figure –flattering style that has remained in vogue throughout the years. Most types of fabrics can be made into pencil skirts, though some are easier to make than others.

The pencil skirt is the best thing to happen to fashion especially for women who are blessed with figure 8s and those leaning towards figure 8s. However, there is need to wear it wisely. For instance, don’t wear it with stiletto heels if you are not a professional so that you won’t fall flat on your face. Also, tight, unflattering and obscene tops should be avoided. Your pencilskirt should also not be too long in order to be able to move freely.
Below are tips on how to wear your pencil skirt
If you have a figure 8, pair your pencilskirt with a fitted top but if you have an apple shape, it is better to opt for a peplum top.
For office wear, pair your pencil skirt with shirts while for Friday or other casual outings you can opt for either a free top or a bogus tops, depending on your mood.
For special occasions you can also rock your pencil skirt with jackets or kimonos.
