We promote healthy, mental wellbeing of students, staff —DU VC

Vice Chancellor of the Dominican University (DU), Ibadan, Oyo State, Professor Hyginus Ekwuazi, has revealed that the institution is committed to the mental and physical development of staff and students.

The VC, in a statement made available to the Nigerian Tribune on Tuesday, spoke during a ‘Walk for a Healthy Nation’ organised at the weekend in Lagos, noting that the exercise which was attended by stakeholders in the system focused on promoting healthy living among the public.

He said: “At Dominican University, we believe in the all-round development of our students and staff. The ‘Walk for a Healthy Nation’ is a testament to our commitment to promoting physical exercise and healthy living, fostering a culture of wellbeing within our academic community.

“ We are immensely proud of the turnout and the positive impact this event will have on the community. By promoting physical exercise and healthy living, the university aims to contribute to the prevention of sudden deaths among young people and create awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.”

A member of the organising committee of the programme, Chinwe Iloghalu, expressed gratitude for the response from the participants, saying, “It is truly heartwarming to witness the support and enthusiasm of the academic community, private sector organisations, and the general public for this initiative.

“ The ‘Walk for a Healthy Nation’ has successfully brought together individuals from diverse backgrounds, united in their pursuit of a healthier lifestyle.”

Also, the former chairman of SEPLAT, ABC Ojiakor, expressed his support for the event.

 

According to him, “I am delighted to see the tremendous enthusiasm and participation in the ‘Walk for a Healthy Nation.’

“It is inspiring to witness the collective effort towards promoting physical and mental wellbeing. Initiatives like this play a crucial role in fostering a healthy lifestyle among Nigerians.”
