With a solid assurance of support from Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, the Warri South Local Government Area is planning to cultivate 1, 000 hectares of Oil Palm Plantation in one of the rural communities within Warri in the next eight months.
This is just as Chairman of Warri Economic Summit Group, Mr Emmanuel Jakpa, explained that the local government will also establish a world-class technology hub that will harbour all kinds of technology entrepreneurs at low or no cost for a year.
The plans were part of the submissions made on Wednesday during the opening ceremony of the Second Warri Economic Summit, in Warri.

Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, disclosed that the first two stages of the oil palm project have been undertaken, maintaining that in few weeks, a process of recruiting young school leavers for the project would begin.
Governor Okowa commended the Tidi-led administration of Warri South LGA for initiating plans to create a world-class tech hub in Warri and a 1, 000 hectares Oil Palm Plantation on one of the rural communities within Warri.
Okowa, who spoke through his Chief of Staff, Chief David Edevbie, assured that his administration would follow the agenda of the local government’s leadership closely in order to assist where necessary.
Dignitaries at the event included Founder and General Overseer of Word of Life Bible Church, Papa Ayo Oritsejafor, Chairman of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr Amaju Pinnick, Comrade Sheriff Mulade and Engr Gabriel Aggrey, who gave one of the keynote addresses, among others.
