The Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum and Coordinator, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, on Saturday, in Sokoto, organised special prayers for the repose of the soul of the late second republic President, Shehu Shagari.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Bashir Rabe Mani and issued to newsmen in Sokoto.
The statement said that, the prayers were offered shortly after the soleminization of the marriage between Nuraddeen Muhammad and his bride , Fatima Aliyu Nuhu, at the Mosque, at the Sokoto residence of the eldest son of the late Iconic elder statesman, retired Capt. Bala Shagari, the District Head of Shagari, Shagari Local Government of the state.
The prayers were led by three reputable Islamic Clerics, Khadi Tambari Yabo, Dr Jabir Sani Mai Hula and Malam Mujitaba A’Babba.
The clerics prayed the Almighty Allah to grant the late Nigerian President eternal rest and for Him to grant the familiy , as well as Nigerians, the formidable fortitutde to bear the irreparable loss .
The prayer session was attended by Senator Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District, House of Representative Member-elect , Rabah and Wurno Federal Constituency, Architect Ibrahim Almustapha Rabah , retired Capt . Bala Shagari, Gubernatorial running mate of the All Progressives Congress (APC ), Alhaji Faruku Malami Yabo, and the Chairman, Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, among several other notable dignitaries .
The statement recalls that the late President Shehu Shagari, who died on Friday, 28th December, 2018, at the National Hospital, Abuja, after a protracted illness , was aged 93.
