A former Governor of Sokoto State and current Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko in partnership with the Future Assured Initiatives of the Wife of the President , Hajiya Aisha Buhari and the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), have empowered no fewer than ten thousand ( 10,000 ), unemployed women and youths from the twenty three Local Governments, with N 34.6 million worth of facilities, as well as N10 million cash .
This is contained in a statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Bashir Rabe Mani and issued to newsmen in Sokoto, on Friday.
The statement enumerated some of the kits disbursed to the beneficiaries to include those of cosmetology, carpentry, fashions designs, wheelchairs, electrical /electronics, auto-mechanics, block making, welding, masonry and interlocking, among others.
In the same vein, each of the ten thousand beneficiaries was given N10,000 cash, as a start-up grant.
Speaking at the event, the Wife of the President, Hajiya A’isha Buhari said that, the Future Assured Initiatives will continue to support women and youth, in the bid to make them truly self-reliant.
Hajiya A’isha Buhari who was represented at the ceremony by the former Minister of Science and Technology, as well as former Plateau State Deputy Governor, Mrs Pauline Tallen.
The Wife of the President said, ” Our initiatives will continue to bolster the living standard of women and youths across Nigeria.
” This is to holistically complement the Federal government agenda of poverty eradication and employment generation.
“So, we are here in Sokoto state today, in collaboration with NDE and Senator Wamakko, to support no fewer than 10,000 women and youth with various working tools, to make them self reliant. “
Mrs Buhari, while commending NDE for sustaining its laudable invaluable interventions, also lauded Senator Wamakko for his giant strides towards supporting the masses of the state.
Also Speaking, Senator Wamakko, said the gesture was an indication of President Muhammadu Buhari’s total commitment towards supporting the Nigerian masses, more especially women, youths and other vulnerable groups.
Senator Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District, further averred, “This is part of the pledges we made to Nigerians in 2015, to create more job opportunities and improve their living standard.
“We have achieved a lot in this direction and I am optimistically confident that Nigerians will testify to that as a collective success.”
Senator Wamakko also said that the All Progressives Congress ( APC ), and President Muhammadu Buhari are committed to further taking Nigeria to greater heights.
He urged,” Nigerians should, therefore, reelect President Muhammadu Buhari, to sustain his laudable, tangible programmes and policies. Nigerians should also massively cast their votes for the party’s candidate.
Meanwhile, the Director General of NDE, Dr Nasir Ladan Argungu, advised the beneficiaries to make use of the items for the improvement of their standard of living.
He warned them not to sell the items or misuse the grant so as to defeat the aims of the gesture.
