•…over 900 nominations received; winners to be unveiled in November
The race for honours in Nigeria’s insurance sector has officially begun as voting opens for the 2025 Almond Insurance Industry Awards.
The Awards Panel of Judges, chaired by Ms. Prisca Soares, unveiled the nominees across multiple categories at a well-attended press conference in Lagos.
Now in its seventh year, the annual awards celebrate excellence, innovation, and resilience in the insurance industry.
This year’s nomination process, which lasted one month, attracted 914 entries from companies and individuals, more than double the 392 received in 2024.
The panel noted that some entries were disqualified for failing to meet set criteria.
Nominees include leading names such as Leadway Assurance, AIICO Insurance, AXA Mansard, NEM Insurance, Mutual Benefits Assurance, Custodian & Allied Insurance, and prominent brokerage firms like SCIB Nigeria, FSL Insurance Brokers, and Hogg Robinson Nigeria.
Categories span life, general, microinsurance, takaful, broking, and CEO of the year awards, as well as the Most Valuable Insurance Customer award featuring corporate giants like Dangote Group, Nigeria LNG, BUA Group, the Head of Service of the Federation, and NNPC Limited.
Ms. Soares explained that winners will be determined through a combination of public votes (10%), judges’ evaluations (10%), and performance data from the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) (80%).
To enhance transparency and prevent duplicate voting, a One-Time Password (OTP) system will be deployed for the first time.
Voting is free and open to both companies and individuals, with one vote permitted per category.
Votes can be cast via the official awards website — www.almondinsuranceindustryawards.com — until September 5, 2025.
The awards night will take place on November 7, 2025, at The Stable Event Centre, Surulere, Lagos.
The evening will feature music, comedy, and dance performances, with veteran Nollywood actor Segun Arinze as host.
Instituted in 2018, the Almond Insurance Industry Awards and Consumers’ Nite have grown into the sector’s biggest annual celebration, recognising the “can-do” spirit of industry professionals who continue to sell insurance products despite low market acceptance and challenging business conditions.
