Vince Neil: What to know about another jet crash in the US

A tragic jet crash at Scottsdale Municipal Airport on Monday left one person dead and several others injured.

The incident involved a Learjet 35A owned by rock star Vince Neil, though Neil was not on board at the time.

Here are the key details:

1. What Happened?

At approximately 2:45 pm, a Learjet 35A veered off the runway after landing and collided with a parked Gulfstream G-200 business jet. The aircraft, registered to Chromed in Hollywood, Wyoming, had flown in from Austin before the crash.

2. Fatalities and Injuries

One person was confirmed dead and remained trapped inside the wreckage for hours. Mötley Crüe initially reported that the Learjet pilot had died but later deleted the post. Two passengers: Neil’s girlfriend and her friend were injured but are expected to recover. A fifth person refused medical treatment.

3. Vince Neil Was Not on Board

Despite the Learjet being owned by Neil, he was not on the flight. His lawyer released a statement:
“Mr. Neil’s thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today.”

4. Witness Reactions

Bret Michaels, lead singer of Poison and a friend of Neil, expressed relief and shared his sympathy:
“I was relieved to hear that my friend Vince Neil was not on board at the time of the incident…I often fly out from this Scottsdale Airpark location, and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to all involved!!”

5. Emergency Response

Firefighters arrived to find fuel leaking from the wreckage. Scottsdale Fire Captain, Dave Folio described their precautions:
“We brought in additional hazmat units to clear surrounding buildings and metered those structures, getting zero readings.”

6. Airport Closure and Investigation

Scottsdale Airport was closed for several hours, reopening around 8:45 pm. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is now leading an investigation into the cause of the crash.

7. Official Statements

Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky expressed condolences and assured the public of ongoing investigations:
“On behalf of the city of Scottsdale, we offer our deepest condolences… We will keep all affected by this tragedy in our prayers.”

The FAA and NTSB continue to gather details about the accident as the aviation community awaits further updates.
