VIDEO: Some ladies join movie industry intending to sleep their way to stardom — Jide Kosoko

Veteran actor, Prince Jide Kosoko, has weighed in on the issue of sex-for-roles in Nollywood, stating that some women deliberately enter the movie industry with the intention of leveraging sexual relationships to rise to fame.

Speaking during an appearance on the latest edition of The Honest Bunch podcast, Kosoko dismissed the idea that sexual demands in the industry are always imposed by producers or directors.

He explained that while such situations may occur, some aspiring actresses also willingly adopt such strategies as a means to advance their careers.

He further argued that no one can be compelled into any form of sexual exchange, noting that individuals have the power to decline offers they are not comfortable with.

According to him, the narrative around sex-for-roles is often exaggerated, as there are cases where individuals come into the industry already planning to use such means to make a name for themselves.

He said, “If I said I need you to come and warm my bed so that I can give you this role, and you said, no, you don’t want to, they cannot force you to do it. If someone introduces something to you and you are not interested, say no. All these sex-for-role things, forget about it. I know some ladies that equally come into the industry with the determination that, by the time ‘I sleep with this and sleep with that, I will get my name.’”
