The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has described Mudashiru Obasa-led four-member plenary sitting on Thursday as a “show of shame,” stating that the removed speaker was only “doing theatre.”
Meranda spoke to journalists on Thursday at the Lagos State High Court, where Obasa had filed an application challenging his removal.
She said, “I think we should allow the legal team to do their job. I think he’s still a member of the House of Assembly, so he has the right to come. But the invasion and breaking into my office, that’s really a big one.”

Meranda further commented on Obasa’s plenary sitting in the Assembly on Thursday despite being removed as speaker.
She said, “To me, that was just a show of shame because, in our job, we have numbers that form a quorum.
“So, if you are sitting with three or four members, you are only doing theatre.”
Meanwhile, Tribune Online reports that the embattled Speaker, Obasa, following his return to the Assembly complex with security operatives, claimed that the current Speaker, Meranda, had voluntarily resigned her position at a peace meeting with party leaders.
