Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reacted to recent impeachment threats, describing the notice as a “love letter” while insisting that his administration remains focused on governance and stability in the state.
Fubara made the remark on Saturday at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Port Harcourt Polo Tournament in the state capital.
In a now viral video on social media, he said, “2026, I thought it would have been the finest, but that landed me a love letter. So you understand, but notwithstanding, we must move on. We must carry out our responsibilities as governments, and we must continue to support everyone who means well for the Rivers States. So I’m here on behalf of the government.”
The governor reasserted his authority as the state’s chief executive, stressing that ensuring peace and stability remains the primary responsibility of his administration.
According to him, the protection of lives and property remains the top priority of his government, as he pledged to continue delivering on promises made to the people of the state.
“What is important is that I am still the governor of Rivers State, and we will continue to do what we have promised the Rivers people,” he said.
Fubara also commended the organizers of the Port Harcourt Polo Tournament for successfully hosting the week-long event without any security incidents, noting that it reflects the improving security situation in the state.
“I am happy that you had your tournament for one week, and the president of the Port Harcourt Polo Club told me there was no incident. It shows that we are working and that Rivers State is safe. That is the basic responsibility of government,” he stated.
