The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of Vic Matt, an executive producer, film director, and manager of the ongoing Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate, Bright Morgan.
Matt, whose real name was Victor Tobechukwu Okoli, was reportedly abducted last Friday near Ntachi Osa in Enugu State and later killed by his abductors.
Confirming the devastating news, fellow filmmaker Ben Cassie took to Instagram to pay tribute to him, describing Matt as a man of integrity and creativity who stood out in Nollywood.
“It is hard for some of us to see those who genuinely wish us well. You always dropped words of encouragement, even when I was most silent. In an industry of snakes and scorpions, you stood different,” she wrote.
Cassie, who remembered him as “cool, calm, and intelligent” with a passion for good filmmaking, expressed shock over the manner of his death.
“To be kidnapped and killed is such a heart-wrenching way to leave this earth. We can all live and prosper. Goodnight, Vic.”
As of press time, BBNaija’s Bright Morgan is yet to be informed of the tragic loss of his friend and manager.
