Veteran Nollywood actress, Joke Silva, is grieving the death of her elder brother, John Olabiyi Silva, who passed away on August 29, 2025, at the age of 72.
The actress confirmed the loss in a post shared on her Instagram page on Thursday, where she paid tribute to her late brother with emotional words that reflected their close bond.
“With acceptance of God’s Sovereign will, we announce the call to the glory of my dear brother, John Olabiyi Silva …long John Silva…Bros B…Uncle B…. my easy go lucky brother. Rest in peace. January 22nd 1953-August 29th, 2025,” she wrote.

The death of John Olabiyi Silva comes as the actress continues to face personal challenges, particularly caring for her husband, Olu Jacobs, who has been battling dementia in recent years.

Although not a public figure like his sister, John Olabiyi Silva was fondly remembered with nicknames such as “Long John Silva,” “Bros B,” and “Uncle B,” reflecting the affection he enjoyed within his family and social circles.
