Social media personality, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, has slammed the silence that trailed the tragic accident and eventual death of Ruth Otabor, the younger sister of Big Brother Naija winner, Phyna.
Tribune Online reports that Ruth died on Sunday after spending 19 days in the hospital battling for her life. She was hit in Auchi, Edo State, by a Dangote truck allegedly driven by an unlicensed driver.
In the video he shared on Instagram, Verydarkman criticised Nigerians, bloggers, and government agencies for failing to speak up while Ruth was still alive, only becoming vocal after her passing.
“She was alive for 19 days yet nobody spoke up. Now that she is gone, everybody wants to talk, post and trend the story. If we had raised the alarm earlier, maybe Dangote group would have been forced to act faster,” he said.

He captioned the video, “She is gone now… let’s make it go viral now, let’s raise the awareness now, let it trend more now, more engagements, more likes, more views, more analysis.”
The activist further faulted the Dangote Group and the Nigerian government for negligence, stressing that employing unlicensed drivers and failing to enforce accountability reflects a larger systemic failure.
According to him, both government institutions and powerful corporations have once again failed ordinary Nigerians.
