Use your positions to protect vulnerable citizens, Ekiti speaker tells leaders

The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, has underlined the need for those divinely enabled to occupy public offices to use their positions to protect the vulnerable citizens and ensure justice.

Aribasoye gave the admonition at this year’s Pentecost Leadership Academy, organised by the Gospel Faith Mission International, Pentecost Arena, Ikere-Ekiti.

Speaking on the topic, ‘Leadership in a Changing World, the lawmaker noted that leadership competencies, combined with integrity and compassionate captaincy within the framework of national service, are key attributes required of those who would be called godly leaders.

He enjoined aspiring leaders to set and test their own standards to be sure they have what it takes to function as productive and accountable leaders.

“Before entering or remaining in government service, clarify your non-negotiables. Prayerfully and scripturally develop a robust habit that will assist you in making informed policy judgments. Build wise counsel networks and be transparent and accountable,” he said.

Aribasoye encouraged leaders to embrace selflessness and pursue reforms with measurable public benefits, adding that Christians in politics must set a standard of standing for truth, resisting corruption, eschewing censorship that suppresses conscience, and protecting religious liberty while serving people of all faiths.

The lead Pastor of Gospel Faith Mission International, Pentecost Arena, Ikere-Ekiti, Pastor Beloved Abimbola said as future leaders, youths should be moulded and prepared to right the wrong in the society.

Abimbola stated that the training session was organised by the Church, as part of its responsibilities and contributions towards the growth of the country.

According to him, “My mission is to raise leaders who are earthly relevant worthy and heavenly conscious. You will notice that there is gap in leadership and if you don’t train them, you can’t blame them.

“We have those we called accidental leaders in politics, business and the rest and for us in this church, we are intentional to raise leaders that will take over from those we have now. “

The Head, Youths and Students Ministry GOFAMINT Worldwide, Pastor Tunde Ojo stressed the need for various churches to always organise programmes that can groom youths to take up leadership roles in the society.
