Nigerian clergymen have been urged to engage in preaching that will give their members hope in this seemingly hopeless situation in the country.
They are also urged to use the pulpit to propagate peace and unity among worshippers rather than engage in sermons that will further aggravate the already worse situation.
The call was made by the National Vice President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Prophet Isa El-Buba while speaking at the inauguration of a new Executive Council member of the Bauchi State chapter of the PFN.
Represented by the Zonal Secretary of PFN, Rev. Sam T. Alaha, Prophet Isa El-Buba stressed that what the people need at this period are soothing words that will build up their hopes to be able to navigate the situation.
According to him, “The best thing to do is to engage in massive teaching on self-reliance through entrepreneurship and prayers for divine intervention saying that the situation is not beyond redemption”.
He then charged the new EXCO to run an all-inclusive administration in order to achieve the set objectives of vying for leadership offices in the first place knowing that they are accountable to God who gave them the leadership.
Isa El-Buba commended the delegates for exhibition of maturity and spirit of God during the election saying, “This is the best PFN election I have witnessed in recent time. You really showed that you are not bent on getting elected. I hope others will take a cue from your conduct.”
In his post-election remarks, the new PFN Chairman in Bauchi state, Pastor Promise Yohanna commended the delegates for the maturity displayed before, during, and after the electoral process.
He assured that the new EXCO will carry all members along because according to him, “We cannot do it alone. We need the cooperation and support of everyone to succeed in the task of leadership you just bestowed on us.”
Promise Yohanna also assured that the new leadership will embark on programme and policies that will uplift the body of Christians in the state so that they will speak with one voice.
The State PFN election was conducted on Tuesday at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Alpha and Omega Parish, Bauchi.
