The Metro Nashville Police have commenced an investigation into the incident of 17-year-old Solomon Henderson, who opened fire inside Antioch High School’s cafeteria, leading to the death of 16-year-old Josselin Corea Escalante.

Law enforcement officials are seeking a motive for a shooting at Nashville’s Antioch High School as the perpetrator fired multiple rounds. Among the major information being checked are alleged writings and social media posts made by Henderson.

These writings contain detailed outlines of the shooting, the reasons, and mentions of other shooting attacks.

According to the Police, Henderson killed himself after the attack.

As a result of the incident, one of the students, a 17-year-old boy, suffered a graze wound to the arm and was discharged after receiving medical attention, while another male student suffered an injury to the face but was not shot.

Metro Nashville Police said the investigation was to unravel whether the victims were directly targeted by Henderson or struck by random gunfire.

The department, along with detectives in the Homicide Unit, has also been examining “very concerning online writings and social media posts” which they say could reveal clues to Henderson’s motive.

According to CNN, Wednesday’s tragedy, which sent students in the cafeteria scrambling for cover, was the first school shooting in the US this year. However, 83 school shootings were recorded in the US in 2024, the most of any year CNN has tracked.

Australian streaming platform, Kick, in a statement, revealed that the shooting was partially live-streamed on its platform, adding that the account and video were “rapidly banned.”

“Violence has no place on Kick. We are actively working with law enforcement and taking all appropriate steps to support their investigation,” the statement said.
