The Allentown School District in Allentown, Pennsylvania, announced that classes and after-school activities are canceled for Tuesday “out of an abundance of caution” due to former President Donald Trump’s planned rally.
The rally’s doors are scheduled to open at 3 p.m., and the campaign team has scheduled him to speak at 7 p.m.
Allentown, Pennsylvania, in the eastern Pennsylvania Lehigh Valley, is home to the sizable urban public school district known as the Allentown School District. As of the 2016–17 school year, it is Pennsylvania’s fourth-largest school district, covering almost the whole of Allentown.
Trump will rally fans Tuesday night at The PPL Center, an 8,500-seat indoor sports arena in Allentown.
“After thoughtful consideration and in coordination with the Allentown Police Department, out of an abundance of caution, all Allentown School District Schools will be closed for students on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, due to a planned political rally in the city of Allentown,” a statement from the district states.
“This event is expected to bring large crowds, heavy traffic, and potential disruptions that may impact the safety and security of our students and staff.”
According to the statement, Tuesday’s athletic events and after-school activities are also canceled.
