Casey Anthony, who was acquitted in 2011 of murder charges in connection with the death of her daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony, has launched a TikTok account to promote her work as a “legal advocate.”
Anthony posted a video on March 1, she appeared to be speaking from her car, using the opportunity to direct viewers to her Substack account. By Monday morning, her TikTok had gained more than 28,000 followers, and the video had been viewed over 1.2 million times.
“This is my first of probably many recordings on a series that I’m starting,” she said in the three-minute video. “I am a legal advocate. I am a researcher. I’ve been in the legal field since 2011 and in this capacity, I feel that it’s necessary, if I’m going to continue to operate appropriately as a legal advocate, that I start to advocate for myself and also advocate for my daughter.”
Caylee Marie Anthony was two years old when she died, and despite her mother’s highly publicized trial, the circumstances surrounding her death remain unresolved. In the summer of 2008, news of her disappearance in Orlando spread, with many hoping she would be found alive.
However, her disappearance had not been reported for a month. By December of that year, her remains were discovered in a wooded area behind the home of Casey Anthony’s parents, George and Cindy Anthony.
Nearly three years later, Casey Anthony stood trial for murder but was acquitted. She has maintained that she believes Caylee Marie drowned accidentally and that she does not know who placed the child’s body in the woods.
In her TikTok video, Anthony said she plans to post a series of videos but clarified that they would not focus on her parents.
“This is not about them. This is not in response to anything that they have said or done. That’s not to say that I’m not going to respond at some point to some of the things that they have said and done. The whole point of this is for me to begin to reintroduce myself,” she said.
She explained that her content would center on legal topics, including privacy, mentioning that some individuals close to her had recently been targeted and attacked.
