The United States government launched an attack on Syria last week, claiming that this was in response to President Bashir al-Assad’s use of chemical weapons to wipe out his own people. Already, the attack has been condemned by Russia, Iran and some other countries, while it has received bipartisan support in the United States Congress.
Although Assad is a very hawkish and ruthless leaders, I think that the USA must exercise caution in dealing with the delicate issue. There are elements of Islamic State personnel that will benefit from the ouster of Assad from power, should the Donald Trump administration follow through on its promise to get rid of Assad. By and large, I think that consultations and dialogue should be used to resolve the Syria crisis.
