The United States has unveiled a new military support package for Ukraine, totalling $275 million, as announced by US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin during a press briefing in Laos.
This assistance, aimed at fulfilling critical battlefield needs, reflects the ongoing commitment to strengthening Ukraine’s defense.
“Later today, the White House will be announcing additional security assistance for Ukraine worth up to $275 million to meet critical battlefield needs, and that will include munitions for rockets systems and artillery and anti-tank weapons,” Austin said on Wednesday.
A release from the US Department of Defense confirmed that the funding is part of a broader surge in military aid ordered by President Joe Biden in late September. It represents the seventieth tranche of equipment sent from US military reserves since August 2021.
The comprehensive support package includes:
- Ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS)
- Artillery ammunition
- Mortar rounds
- Unmanned Aerial Systems – also known as drones
- Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire-guided (TOW) missiles
- Anti-armour systems
- Small arms and ammunition
- Demolition equipment and munitions
- Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear protective equipment and
- Spare parts, ancillary equipment, services, training and transportation
