Three armed suspects remain at large after a shooting in a Toronto pub in Canada left 12 people injured, local police said.
The attack occurred at 10:39 p.m. on Friday (3:39 a.m. GMT Saturday) near Scarborough city centre in eastern Toronto.
Authorities reported that six people sustained gunshot wounds, while others were injured by flying or broken glass. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
Toronto police stated that the suspects, armed with an assault rifle and handguns, entered the pub and “opened fire indiscriminately.”
A motive “right now remains unclear and we’re chasing down all leads,” said Police Supt. Paul MacIntyre. Describing the incident, he added, “This was a brazen and reckless act of violence that’s really shaken our community and the city itself.”
According to the BBC, police confirmed they were deploying all available resources to track the suspects. One of them, wearing a black balaclava, was seen fleeing the scene in a silver car. The victims ranged in age from their 20s to mid-50s.

“I’m happy to report, by the grace of God, that there have been no fatalities,” Supt. MacIntyre said, calling it “extremely lucky.” He described the footage of the shooting as “horrifying,” saying, “These guys just looked at the crowd and opened fire. It was horrible.”
The gunfire shattered glass walls, leaving “blood all over the floor,” including in the basement, where some patrons ran to hide before police arrived, he said.
Mayor Olivia Chow expressed deep concern over the mass shooting, telling reporters on Saturday that she was “deeply troubled” by the scale of the violence. “It is troubling because of the magnitude of the shooting and the number of people hurt,” she said, adding that police had been investigating through the night and into the morning.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford also condemned the attack, writing in an X post on Saturday that he fully supports the Toronto Police Service’s search for the suspects.
The number of injured victims in this shooting is higher than in other recent incidents in the area. In 2024, eight people were injured and two killed in shootings and firearm discharges within the same police division, according to department data.
Toronto, a city of three million people, saw 43 fatal shootings last year.
