Uromi killings: Kano deputy gov assures safety of northerners

Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Abdulsalam Aminu Gwarzo, has assured that Northerners, particularly Hausa-Fulani residents in Uromi, Edo, are safe, and there’s no cause for alarm.

This assurance came after a delegation led by Gwarzo visited Uromi, where 16 Kano indigenes were brutally killed.

The deputy governor expressed relief following the visit, stating that the leadership in Edo and Uromi Kingdom strongly condemned the incident.

He noted the warm reception they received from the locals, which indicated a sense of comfort and safety.

Gwarzo emphasised that the Edo State leadership has taken steps to reassure the nation of the safety of Uromi and its willingness to welcome people from all parts of the country, especially from the North and Kano.

The deputy governor also mentioned that aside from the 16 fatalities, 26 people were seriously injured in the attack.

Edo Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has assured that those responsible for the attack will face justice.

The state government has already arrested 14 suspects, who will be transferred to Abuja for further investigation.

The incident has prompted concerns, but Gwarzo’s visit aimed to promote peace and reassure the Northern community in Uromi.

The delegation, which included the Emir of Rano and four commissioners, was well-received by the locals, further emphasizing the region’s commitment to peaceful coexistence.
