The newly inaugurated Chairman of the Adeosun/Idi-Orogbo Community Development Association, in Awotan, Pastor Olusola Bobade, has called on the Oyo State Government to upgrade the historic Lagelu Mausoleum in Awotan, Ibadan, into a tourism hub capable of boosting state revenue and the creative industry.

Speaking at his inauguration on Saturday, Bobade noted that the site, where the famed Ibadan warrior Lagelu, buried himself alive, remains dilapidated.

He commended the electoral committee headed by Dr Abimbola Abolarinwa and Dr Adebisi Olasunkanmi while also lauding the other members of the CDA for their support during the election period.

Bobade, who is also the financial secretary, Prison Fellowship Nigeria, Oyo state chapter, however seeks support from the members towards the success of the newly inaugurated administration of the CDA.

“We appeal to the Oyo state government to upgrade the Lagelu Masoleum, located within our CDA in Awotan, into a tourism hub.

“This we believe when upgraded , will generate more revenue for the state, the government can upgrade it into a tourism center where foreigners and other tourists can visit. Though we commend the Oyo state governor over the construction of bridge in our community but we are also appealing to the government on the construction of the road in our community

“I commend our members for their support during the election and selection process and I as well seek their support in ensuring a successful administration of the newly inaugurated executives,“ he concluded.
