A law student from the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Obinna Joseph Okwesili, has dedicated his final year project to Chantelle, the late 33-year-old crossdresser who was known as Abuja Area Mama.
Chantelle, whose real name was Ifeanyi Chukwu-Agah Benedict, was tragically murdered in Abuja, with her body discovered on the Katampe-Mabushi Expressway on August 8, 2024.
Okwesili announced on Wednesday, August 28, that he has dedicated his project research, which explores the impact of the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act in Nigeria over the past decade, to Chantelle.
He expressed his tribute on social media, writing, “Finished my final year project today and thought it is most meritorious to be dedicated to Abuja Area Mama whose life, though different, was fullest in its living. Rest well, Ifeanyi Benedict (Chantelle).”
