In an apparent response to fears that he may be working for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi, has challenged his doubters in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to deliver their own states to the party, affirming that “Ebonyi State is PDP and PDP is Ebonyi State.”
Recall that the governor had announced that he would mobilize 2,000 PDP supporters to welcome President Buhari for APC rally in the state.
But speaking at the PDP Presidential Campaign Rally in Abakaliki on Friday, he boasted that there is no state in the county that had mobilized more supporters for the PDP rally than Ebonyi.
He said: “Let me on behalf of the good people of Ebonyi State – the PDP State – welcome the National Chairman of our great party and the presidential candidate of our party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his beautiful wife together with the vice presidential candidate of our party, Peter Obi and his beautiful wife.

“Let me thank Ebonyans for the love for me, the love for PDP and for our presidential candidate.
“Let Mr assure our visitors and the leadership of PDP, especially at the national level that Ebonyi State is PDP and PDP is Ebonyi State. We have never had another party in the state and PDP in the state has performed. So, we want to assure you that by the reason of what God has started in Ebonyi State, we will massively vote PDP. Ebonyi State will vote for Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, Ebonyi State will vote for all the National Assembly members, they will vote for me and all house of assembly members.
“Let me ask mischief makers, those who are doubting the authenticity of Ebonyi State as the headquarters of PDP in the country, they should go and deliver their state. They should leave us alone.
“This is the highest mobilisation of PDP so far throughout the nation. So, let it not be ‘monkey dey work, bamboo dey work’. We are PDP. Mischief makers should go and deliver their states. Our state is intact. And it is intact for PDP.”
