United States President, Donald Trump, has declared that Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not prepared to pursue peace in the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Trump made this assertion following a tense meeting with Zelenskyy at the White House on Friday, where he warned that the Ukrainian leader was “gambling with World War Three.”
During the meeting, Trump made it clear that the United States would not support an indefinite war effort.
“Your people are very brave, but you’re either going to make a deal, or we’re out. And if we’re out, you’ll fight it out,” he told Zelenskyy.
According to the BBC, Trump urged Zelenskyy to be “thankful” for US support while criticising him for refusing to consider negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The meeting came amid growing tensions between the two leaders. Zelenskyy has consistently rejected any form of compromise with Moscow, while Trump has argued that Ukraine will have to make concessions to achieve peace.
Their disagreement played out publicly in the days leading up to the meeting, with Zelenskyy accusing Trump of being influenced by Russian narratives and “living in a disinformation space.”
Following the discussions, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to share his perspective, describing the meeting as “very meaningful” but concluding that Zelenskyy was unwilling to seek peace.
“It’s amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelensky is not ready for peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations,” Trump wrote. “I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE.”
Trump further accused Zelenskyy of showing a lack of respect towards the United States during their discussion in the Oval Office.
“He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for peace,” he added.
