The second day of the 2025 Cheltenham Festival started with a dusting of snow at Prestbury Park, setting a wintry scene for Style Wednesday. Despite the cold, racegoers arrived in high spirits, showcasing fashion and flair for the event formerly known as Ladies’ Day.
Tuesday’s races brought unexpected twists, with State Man falling at the last hurdle in the Champion Hurdle, handing outsider Golden Ace a surprise victory. Bookmakers’ favourite Constitution Hill also fell, though both horses returned safely.
Clerk of the course Jon Pullin confirmed that while snow covered the ground early in the day, conditions remain “good to soft,” with temperatures expected to rise to 7°C by the first race at 1.20pm. However, freezing temperatures are forecast to return later in the week.

The day’s highlight will be the Queen Mother Champion Chase at 4pm, a Grade 1 race known for its speed and intensity. Other key races include the Turners Novices’ Hurdle at 1.20pm and the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase at 3.20pm.
The festival will conclude on Friday with the prestigious Gold Cup, expected to draw 70,000 spectators. However, racegoers should prepare for chilly conditions, as freezing temperatures are likely to return before the weekend.
