The Great Independence Hall Alumni Association (GIHAA) has formally launched, with a commitment to deepening alumni engagement and supporting development initiatives within the University of Ibadan community.
The association, comprising former residents of the prestigious Great Independence Hall, aims to uphold the hall’s proud traditions while creating new avenues for collaboration, mentorship, and social impact.
This is according to a statement by the association’s President, Omotola Ifafore made available to Sunday Tribune in Abuja on Saturday.
Speaking on the establishment of GIHAA, Ifafore emphasized the importance of collective action among alumni.
“Our mission is rooted in the belief that through collective endeavor and mutual commitment, we can achieve a substantial and lasting impact,” Ifafore said.
Among the group’s planned initiatives are networking events to foster professional and personal growth, community outreach projects aimed at promoting social responsibility, and educational programs such as scholarships and learning support for current students.
For its first major philanthropic effort, GIHAA is donating a Public Address System to the student body of Great Independence Hall.
The donation is intended to enhance communication and participation during student activities and events.
“In concert, we can cultivate a dynamic and supportive community that truly exemplifies the spirit of Great Independence Hall,” Ifafore added.
The association has also extended an invitation to all Independence Hall alumni and members of the public to join its efforts in strengthening ties and advancing the hall’s legacy.
