South African artist, Tyla Seethal popularly known as Tyla, achieved remarkable success at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, held Thursday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The rising star dominated the Afrobeats categories, triumphing over industry heavyweights like Burna Boy, Asake, Rema, and Tems.
Tyla’s global hit, ‘Water’ earned her the coveted “Top Afrobeats Song” award, while she also claimed the title of “Top Afrobeats Artist,” cementing her status as a leading force in the genre.
These wins cap off an extraordinary year for Tyla, who has consistently outshined Africa’s biggest names on the international stage. Her eight nominations at this year’s Billboard Music Awards underscore her growing influence.

“Water,” Tyla’s debut single, has not only become a global anthem but also solidified her position as a trailblazer in the Afrobeats movement.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift extended her record as the most decorated artist in Billboard Music Awards history, taking home ten awards, including “Top Artist” and “Top Billboard 200 Album.”
