A former Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Danjuma will, next Monday, chair a seminar to mark the 30th anniversary of the Obafemi Awolowo Foundation.

The seminar with the theme: “The Role of Foundations in Developing Countries”, will have various heads of foundations analyse the impact of foundations on development efforts.

Danjuma, who himself is chairman and founder of the TY Danjuma Foundation, will lead other speakers, guests, and attendees in sharing experiences and exploring various areas of synergies that will ensure foundations have a greater impact on development efforts.

Various categories of foundations and other cognate institutions in Nigeria, Africa and beyond are also billed to participate in the seminar.

Executive Director, Obafemi Awolowo Foundation, Ambassador Dr Olatokunbo Awolowo Dosumu who made this known, in a statement, stated that the seminar will hold virtually, starting at 5 pm (Nigerian time).

The statement disclosed that the keynote address will be delivered by Professor Friday Okonofua who is a professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Director of Grants and Research at the University of Benin.

Okonofua is also the erstwhile Vice-Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Ondo State.

To serve as panelists include Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Thabo Mbeki Foundation, Max Adv. Boqwana; CEO of the Sickle Cell Foundation, Dr Annette Akinṣẹtẹ; CEO of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Mrs Ifeyinwa Ugochukwu; and CEO of the Leventis Foundation, Dr Hope Usieta.

Among other guests, Chairman, Kọla Daisi Foundation, Chief Kọla Daisi; Chairman MTN Foundation, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi and Executive Secretary, African Capacity Building Foundation, Mr Mamadou Biteye will be special guests.

The event is to be moderated by a communication expert, Dr Victor Ọladokun.

The Obafemi Awolowo Foundation was inaugurated on April 11, 1992.
