LUCK ran out of two suspected armed robbers Thursday night in Warri, as a mob descended on them while carrying out their nefarious act.
TribuneOnline gathered that the gang, numbering three, invaded a house at Eburu area of Warri and made away with about N1.4 million.
Relishing the successful operation, two of the hoodlums reportedly returned to the area unaware that a mob was laying an ambush for them.
While attempting to cause further havoc, the mob descended on them, beating the duo to a pulp with machetes and clubs.
A witness said one of the suspects identified as Tega, died from deep cuts sustained on his head before operatives of B-Division of the Nigerian Police led by the DPO, Mr Eyo Anietie, arrived the scene.
A victim of the suspects, one Kingsley, when contacted to give details of the incident, declined comment, saying he was yet to recover from the shock and loss.
The second suspect, who also sustained injuries from the mob, was later whisked away to the B-Division complex at Eboh road for further investigation that could lead to the arrest of other fleeing members of the gang.
TribuneOnline, however, gathered that a cut-to-size gun was recovered from the hoodlums while the remains of Tega had been deposited at the Warri Central Hospital morgue.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Andrew Aniamaka, could not be reached for reaction as of the time of filing the report.
