Two suspected members of one- a chance armed robbery gang have been arrested by the police in Lagos after one of their robbery operations.
The arrested suspects were said to be operating along Funsho Williams Avenue in the Surulere area of the state
They had reportedly successfully robbed a victim of his mobile phone and ATM card when policemen from Surulere Division swooped on them.
The image maker in charge of the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement, signed by him on Thursday
The Lagos police image maker stated that “Police operatives attached to Surulere Division have arrested two members of a one-chance gang notorious for operating along Funsho Williams Avenue.”
“The suspects, Usman Hussani, aged 21, and Ebuka Ukechukwu, aged 25, were arrested following a distress call received from a victim shortly after he was dispossessed of his phone and other valuables.”
He revealed that ” Recovered from the suspects are 2 mobile phones, 2 SIM cards, one Sterling Bank ATM card, one UBA cheque booklet belonging to Ugochukwu (other names withheld) and one brand new tricycle with registration number LSD 360 QN used by the gang. ”
The police image maker assured that ” Suspects will be arraigned once investigations are concluded.”
According to Hundeyin ” The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, FDC hereby encourages residents of Lagos state to always remain vigilant and keen-eyed, especially when boarding public vehicles.
