Two persons have lost their lives in a road mishap along the popular Alao-Akala Memorial Highway, Randa area, Ogbomoso, on Monday.

The victims were knocked down by a motorcyclist, popularly known as an Okada rider, while trying to avoid an oncoming van.

The victims, according to an eyewitness account, sustained head injuries that later resulted in their untimely death.

The motorcyclist who narrowly survived the crashes was said to be on high speed, which, according to a source, was on high speed when the accident occurred.

Another eyewitness account told Tribune Online that the motorcyclist was trying to avoid an oncoming vehicle when the incident happened.

“There was an oncoming van belonging to the producers of ‘Bread’, which was on a high speed. The Okada rider with his passenger was also on a high speed.

He (the motorcyclist) was trying to avoid the van when he suddenly lost control and ran over another woman standing by the roadside. Both women had head injuries and died immediately.

“The driver of the van and the Okada rider took to their heels for fear of being attacked by the sympathisers,” he explained.

As of press time, men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have evacuated the remains of the victims to an unknown morgue.
