Police operatives in Niger have arrested two men for allegedly plotting to assassinate a person in the Bosso Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were intercepted by a police patrol team and vigilante members in the early hours of August 23, 2025, with a locally made pistol, a live cartridge, and a sum of N13,000.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident in a press bulletin.

A search of the two suspects, identified as Muhammad Mohammed, 40, and Mohammed Usman, 35, both from the Beji community, led to the recovery of the items.
During interrogation, both suspects confessed to being hired by a man named Dogo, also from the Beji community, to assassinate a person near the railway crossing.
They were reportedly on their way to collect their service fee of N100,000 when they were apprehended.
The suspects further claimed that Dogo had initially given them N13,000 as a transport fee.
A preliminary investigation by the police revealed that Dogo’s motive was to kill the man who had married his ex-wife.
The suspects have since been taken into police custody at the Maikunkele Division for initial investigation before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further discreet investigation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, a concerted effort to apprehend the said Dogo has been intensified by the police.
