He said reliance on Allah and constant remembrance of death would guarantee peaceful life and successful hereafter for the faithful.
Abdul-Lateef made the call while delivering the 11th annual Ramadan lecture organised by the Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Rotimi Abiru, where thousands of Muslims were feted in the spirit of the season.
In his lecture entitled “Islam, the Religion of Peace,” the commissioner enjoined Muslims to trust in Allah as nobody could become anything in life without His will.
“If you want to have peace in life, always remember death. This will enable you to be righteous always and get you away from acts that are forbidden by the most High. Always remember that you were sent to this world for a purpose – the worship of Allah – and one day, you will be told to account for what you did with your life on earth,” he said.
The organiser of the lecture, Hon. Abiru, enjoined the faithful to use the period of Ramadan to move closer to Allah and promote peace.
The lawmaker said the title of this year’s Ramadan lecture was chosen to further emphasise the need for peace in the country as no development could be achieved or sustained without tranquility.
