Truck laden with N7 million fake drugs impounded in Kano

THE eagle eyes of the Kano State Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) have intercepted a truck trying to convey fake and substandard drugs worth over N7 million into drug markets in Kano.

According to a statement signed by KAROTA spokesperson Nabulisi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa, and a copy made available to pressmen, disclosed that the truck and its unlawful cargo have been handed over to the state task force on drugs for further action.

However, the statement further disclosed that  Managing Director of the Agency Baffa Babba Dan Agundi has directed that the vehicle and its whole content be handed over immediately to the state task force on drug abuse constituted by the Governor of Kano state Abdullahi Ganduje for further investigation,”

But a reliable source within the agency hinted that the owner of the illegal goods, who is a non-native of the state fled and abandoned the truck after realizing the KAROTA officials are were trying to apprehend him. He is still at large.

The KAROTA ‘s spokesman said, “remains committed to its duty and would continue to partner with sister agencies in the fight against drug abuse in the state which also contributes to reckless driving on the state’s roads.”

He then called on the general public are encouraged to continue to support the agency and every other sister agencies towards successful discharge of their duties.
