Trouble looms as residents scoop spilled fuel from fallen tankers on Warri-Benin expressway

Tragedy beckons along failed portions of the busy Warri-Benin expressway within Koko/Ologbo boundary as folks have begun to scoop petrol fuel spilled from two fallen tankers on Saturday morning.

Reports say scores of travellers are also stranded at the boundary area between Delta and Edo states due to the accident.

The two fallen tankers were said to be laden with over 33,000 litres of petrol spilling their contents on the road median.

Residents in the area, in their usual elements, have trooped to the scene with buckets and kegs scooping the spilled petroleum product in defiance of the associated hazards.

Gridlock at Koko Ologbo boundary area of Edo and Delta state.

The ever-poor state of the parlous road, which has been constituting a yearly nuisance to commuters, was the cause of the tankers’ accident.

Tribune Online gathered that the situation got worse after the two trucks carrying petroleum products fell on the failed portion of the road within the Koko/Ologbo junction.

Youths from Ologbo and other adjourning villages have reportedly mounted checkpoints to collect tolls from motorists who seek alternative routes out of the gridlock occasioned by the fallen tankers.

Tribune Online passed through the bad portions of the Federal road last Tuesday morning and could recall a truck laden with hundreds of packs of floor tiles that had been looted by villagers amid the body of a woman, suspected to have boarded the truck, by the roadside.

The spot where the two tankers fell on Saturday, which is near Koko/Ologbo junction, is a few kilometres away from Jesse where scores of fuel-scooping folks from a burst pipeline were burnt, attracting a global outrage.

The Dangers In Mixing Toilet Cleaner With Bleach

Few weeks ago, Eniola Oyemolade, a journalist, decided to get creative while cleaning, by mixing a toilet cleaner and a bleach together. She did this with the thought that if one product works, mixing it with another would make it even better.

Unknowing to her, Mixing bleach with toilet cleaner creates a poisonous gas that can cause adverse health reactions, including death.

“After the mixture, I started feeling a burning sensation in my throat and I had to leave the room because the odour was really bad too,” she said.
