Troops of the Defence Headquarters Special Operations Brigade have carried out a successful offensive operation against Lakurawa terrorists in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
In a statement released on Thursday by Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Operation Fansan Yamma, it was confirmed that the operation resulted in an intense firefight, during which six terrorists were killed.
“The troops recovered the following items from the operation: four AK-47 rifles, 160 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and one box of 12.7mm ammunition,” the statement read.
However, the success of the mission came at a significant cost. Five gallant soldiers tragically lost their lives in the line of duty, making the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of the nation.
In the wake of this development, the military has called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to terrorism or security threats in Gudu LGA and surrounding areas to security agencies.
The statement further emphasized that public cooperation is vital for safeguarding lives and maintaining peace within communities.
