It was the period for tributes, eulogies and tears from family, colleagues, and church members as the late Deputy Director of Public Enlightenment and Mass Mobilisation in the Oyo State Ministry of Information, Mrs. Seun Mike was laid to rest on Friday.
Mike, who died on Monday, April 1, at the age of 39 from a disease, was laid to rest at a cemetery in Abeokuta.
Speaking during a commendation service held at The Apostolic Church, Abeokuta Area, the Director, Public Enlightenment, and Mass Mobilisation, Mrs. Busola Adetunji expressed sadness at Seun Mike’s demise, describing her as a humble and trustworthy person.Â
“Mrs. Seun Mike was a dear colleague who was a friend to all, but close to few. She was a smart officer, and we will surely miss her. We commiserate with her family and loved ones. We can only pray for the repose of her soul and for God to strengthen the family she left behind,” she said.
Another colleague, Mr Fasasi Ismail, who Chairs the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Information Chapel, under which Mrs Mike served, was almost in tears as he described her as a loyal member, who always showed compassion.Â
Earlier, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Information Chapel (NUJIC), expressed sadness over the death of Mrs. Seun Mike, who died on Monday, April 1, 2024.
In a condolence message signed by the Chapel’s Secretary, Comrade Olamide Adeniji on behalf of the union, the Chairman, Fasasi Ismail said the entire members received with shock, the news of the demise of one of the finest Information Officers in the State.
He recalled her professionalism as an information officer who served at different MDAs, including the Office of the First Lady, Oyo State Traffic Management Authority, OYRTMA, and Christian Pilgrims Board among othersÂ
“She would continue to be remembered for her mature and professional contributions during congresses,” he said.
Comrade Fasasi prayed to God to give her family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and grant her eternal rest.
