Tribune Tourism Editor, Wale Olapade wins Fatima Garbati’s Tourism Outreach Grant

The Nigerian Tribune multiple awards winner and Tourism Editor, Mr Wale Olapade has won the maiden edition of Fatima Garbati’s Tourism Outreach Grant.

Mr Olapade was among five shortlisted journalists in the media category chosen by Akwaaba African Travel Market for the first edition of the grant among other selected categories who are to share a grant of N5 million.

The five journalists selected for the grant have attended the most Akwaaba Travel Market events. They are Olawale Olapade of Nigerian Tribune, Obinna Emelike of the BusinessDay, Omololu Olumuyiwa of Travelscope Magazine, Justina Okpanku of Just Tours and Franklin Ihejirika of Nigerian Frank News.

For the institutions’ category, which are selected for the visibility and impact of the graduates on the tourism scene in Nigeria include National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Universal School of Aviation USA, Kwara State University, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) and Kaduna Polytechnic.

Others include University of Abuja, Aeroport College Of Aviation & Travel Management (ACATM), Aerovessel Travels and Tours, Michael Okpara University, Umudike, Pathways and Lagos State University of Science and Technology.

In the brand category, the youth tourism promoters were chosen from Across the Nation and they include Chrisage Travels-Abuja, Wakalogue-Jos, OU Travels-Enugu, Omotosho Travels-Ilorin, Nigeria Tourism Lovers-Lagos, Naija Explorers-Lagos, Barry Jigawa Dutse and NATOP Presidents nominee.

The organiser of Akwaaba African Travel Market, Ikechi Uko, who made the announcement in a release, said the audience are not left out as 10 lucky young tour operators will win N50,000 each at the Akwaaba Travel Market Youth Forum on September 24.
