Former chairman, Lagos State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Otunba Segun Adewale, popularly called Aeroland, has congratulated Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, over his victory at the State Election Petition Tribunal, describing the ruling as a victory for all Nigerians and PDP members across the world.

Makinde, who contested on PDP platform, defeated his opponent, Bayo Adelabu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a landslide victory in the March 9th gubernatorial election in Oyo State, but Adelabu dragged him before the Tribunal to challenge the poll outcome.

Adewale, in his goodwill message made available to newsmen on Tuesday, expressed his happiness for the good people of Oyo State for having a caring and people’s loving leader like Makinde, urging them to stand by him throughout his tenure as governor of the state.

Adewale, who was PDP senatorial candidate in 2015 poll in Lagos State, also described Governor Makinde as “indeed a God sent” who had been transforming the social, political and economic fortune of Oyo and bringing abundant prosperity to the land.

“This victory is a victory for all Nigerians and PDP members across the world. It’s not only the Oyo people that are celebrating Makinde’s stellar achievements but the entire country because the citizens are speaking good of him as I see people post on social media wishing that he is their state governor.

“He is indeed a God sent who is transforming the social, political and economic fortune of Oyo and bringing abundant prosperity to the land,” the PDP chieftain said.

Adewale commended the judges at the Tribunal for their courage, saying that fairness and justice must be the hallmark of the country’s democracy.

According to him, “When people surrender their will to a candidate through democratic electioneering process at the ballot, nobody should use the backdoor to take it back.”

Speaking further, Otunba Adewale also congratulated PDP House of Representatives member from Lagos State, Hon. Tunji Soyinka representing Surulere and Hon. Tajudeen Obasa, another party member, representing Ojo constituency in the state for winning their cases at the Tribunal too.

Adewale contended that there was still hope for the country’s judiciary “despite the porosity,” expressing the belief that “PDP members with cases at the Tribunal will get fair justice.”

He, however, urged Nigerian politicians to play by the rule of engagement and rule of law always, “so that the country can have accelerated development devoid of unnecessary distractions.”
