The co-founder of BudgIT, Seun Onigbinde, has been trending on Twitter, over his appointment as a Technical Adviser in the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.
Onigbinde, a known staunch critic of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration has been a subject of discussion on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, with a faction of discussants condemning him for accepting to serve in his new role.
It was said that for his past unfriendly stance against the government, with a series of past “offensive” statements made against Buhari, he should have reconsidered taking up a job with his administration.
Onigbinde, had, via his Medium account announced his new role, and while he said he had accepted to take up the new appointment, he said he would be stepping aside from direct involvement in BudgIT duties.
For this decision, he had been criticised over his decision to work with the current national leadership.
Onighinde’s adversaries on Twitter, earlier before now had also condemned him for deleting his Twitter account probably to cover up his past statements against Buhari administration and escape reactions that have trailed the news of his new appointment.
But as the argument turned red with rage, and the discussion on Twitter became hotter, the supposedly deleted Twitter account of Onigbinde @seunonigbinde resurfaced.
However, contrary to the belief that he had been appointed directly by President Buhari, Onigbinde, on his Medium page, last Saturday, clarified the mode of his appointment.
According to him, he said he would be taking up an advisory role which was underwritten by an international development agency for an initial period of six months in the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.
In his new role, he said he would be working with the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Agba.

Seun Onigbinde deleted his Twitter account after getting appointment for Buhari’s government.
The same Buhari that we all detest his government.
I am learning a new lesson from this.

Only God knows what would have been the response of Late Prof Pius Adesanmi to Seun Onigbinde’s appointment.
We only pray, Nigeria would not happen to Seun Onigbinde eventually.
RIP Pius Adesanmi. pic.twitter.com/UMX0xzs8qh

I am just seeing all these Seun Onigbinde past tweets and I can’t understand why people especially young ones do these things to themselves. Why do they self-destruct? Why burn your boats? Why not be circumspect? How do abuse a man old enough to be your grandfather almost daily?/

Meanwhile, congrats to Seun. And well done to the Minister of Budget & Planning who picked a competent critic.

I am pleased that Seun Onigbinde has been given an appointment by the Federal Govt. When I tell young people not to be too extreme, they abuse me as “Fencist.” In 2015, you are all in for Buhari. 2019, you are all in against Buhari. Your country is bigger than Buhari. Think am o.

I am happy Seun Onigbinde has made himself available to use his talent to serve our fatherland. Nothing is as good as getting a chance to put to action the litany of ideas and advice one has canvassed over the years. I expect a lot from him and I hope he is able to come through.

I don’t know any Deji that is a critic or activist. Seun is not a jobber or a fake person. I know a Seun Onigbinde that is a critic, a competent one who means well. https://t.co/5yN0FwtmIQ

I plead with my people here to let Seun Onigbinde be and settle down to perform his role. I’m not asking that his hypocrisy shouldn’t be called out but I even want more of them to get roles so they can realize that criticism is the easiest job on the face of this earth

Seun Onigbinde has been appointed TA to the Ministry of Budget. Seun has only one area of expertise. Its the Nigerian budget. We all know that.
Now he is in a position to influence it. https://t.co/Vqj4lxppxP

Congrats Seun Onigbinde.
I’m glad his role is technical, and not just political. Despite this, govt’s record of turning our brightest minds to dead woods fears me. I pray he survives. Better to delete his account than start defending the things he criticized. RIP Pius Adesanmi. pic.twitter.com/YwXR4INDxG

Seun Onigbinde, a critic of many Government parastatals has been invited to fix what he has always criticized. But we are criticizing his decision to join the government and fix all or some of the problems. Edakun, what exactly do we want? Wail without Change? Softly Softly ooo

Dear @ZShamsuna, the appointment of Seun Onigbinde as your adviser is rather unfortunate. He worked against the re-election of PMB during the last election. Pls see below exerpts of some of his tweets. I suggest you consider another person pls.@Ayourb@jeffphilips1@Zahrahmusa pic.twitter.com/4dy2AcQCfC
