AS Nigeria embarks on a pivotal initiative for its environmental future, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change, the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), her Colleges and Outstations nationwide has been engaging in tree planting exercises aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and mitigating the effect of climate change. This FRIN’s initiative is a broader national strategy to reforest and restore degraded lands, aligning with the commitment of the Nigeria Government to Climate Action. To ensure the success of this initiative, FRIN have been collaborating with government agencies, organizations and local communities.Recently, during FRIN tree planting exercise in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, Julius Berger Nigerian PLC and Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) at MuhammaduBuhari Cantonment in Giri, Abuja, Zacharia B. Yaduma (Ph.D), the Director General, Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (DG-FRIN) acknowledged in his speech that for over seven decades, FRIN has been at the forefront of forestry research, afforestation, biodiversity and environmental conservation in Nigeria.
