Traditional ruler urges council to rehabilitate township roads

Etsu of Bwari in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Mr Ibrahim Yaro, on Thursday, urged Bwari Local Council to give priority to the repair of township road to promote growth.

Yaro made the call while addressing a delegation of the council area executive led by its Chairman, Mr Musa Dikko, who paid him a courtesy visit.

The event was on the sideline of ongoing visits by the council executive to all political wards in Bwari.

The wards include Igu, Kawu, Usuma, Kuduru, Dutse, Ushafa, Bwari central, Kubwa, Byazim and Shere.

The traditional ruler commended the council’s executive for being  accountable to the people, saying  that attention should shift to the  repair of Bwari township road.

According to him, the only thing the people  are most worried about is the deplorable condition of Bwari township roads.

“I urge you and your council executive members to collaborate with the Federal Capital Territory Administration to immediately commence the repair of our roads.

“One of the roads links the community to the outside world, the bad state of the road affects transportation of agricultural produce and hinders business operation in the community.

“The roads in the council are bad, particularly from the Law School to Bwari Central Market,” he said.

The Etsu said although government once awarded contract to tar the major road, nothing had been done to complete it.

Ibrahim said people plying the road were facing difficulties and appealed to the council authorities to  tackle the problems causing delay in completing the road repairs.

Earlier, the council chairman said the visit to the palace was to thank the traditional ruler for his support since his assumption of office.

He promised to put measures in place to ensure speedy repair of  the deplorable Bwari township roads.

“We have started pouring gravel and sand to commence road repairs; we will do our best to deliver on our campaign promises,” Dikko said.
