The Board of Directors of Total E&P Nigeria has appointed Mr Mike Sangster as Managing Director/Chief Executive of Total E&P Nigeria Ltd. (TEPNG) with effect from July 01, 2019.
He succeeds Mr Nicolas Terraz who is now the Senior Vice President for Africa, for the Exploration and Production branch.
Mr Sangster has served in various capacities with extensive experience in business and management, within the TOTAL Group.
Before his appointment as the Managing Director/Chief Executive of Total E & P Nigeria ltd., he was the Senior Vice President, Investor Relations of Total; Managing Director of Total E&P, Australia; President & General Manager of Total E&P, Thailand; Vice President, Economics, Strategy and Planning for Total Exploration & Production; Vice President, Business Development & Strategy for Total E&P, USA; and Senior International Negotiator.
A graduate of Electrical Engineering from the University of Aberdeen, Mr Sangster worked as a Corporate Development Manager at Scottish Power, before joining the TOTAL Group.
Total has been serving the Nigerian hydrocarbons industry for more than half a century in partnership with the Nigerian Government and in different equity associations with other private companies.
The Upstream activities of Total in NigeriaTotal E&P Nigeria Limited, an affiliate of TOTAL S.A., has operated in the upstream sector of the Nigerian hydrocarbon industry for more than 50 years and has added over 3 billion barrels of oil equivalent to Nigeria’s production to date.
Incorporated in Nigeria in 1962, TEPNG has maintained strong and steadfast partnerships with the Nigerian Government, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and several indigenous companies, in developing the country’s hydrocarbon industry.
TEPNG operates and holds a 40% interest in the NNPC/TEPNG Joint Venture, producing oil and natural gas from several onshore and shallow water concessions. TEPNG also has a 15% interest in Nigeria LNG, which currently operates six LNG liquefaction trains on Bonny Island. In addition, TEPNG has non-operated interests in the SPDC-operated joint venture (10%), the Bonga field (12.5%) and the Usan field (20%).
Another Total affiliate, Total Upstream Nigeria Limited (TUPNI), operates the Akpo and Egina fields in OML 130 deepwater lease.
