Toronto Plane Crash: Delta Airline to compensate passengers with $30,000 each

Delta Air Lines has announced a $30,000 compensation for each passenger aboard its plane that crash-landed at Toronto Pearson Airport.

The airline confirmed this on Wednesday, stating that the payout comes with “no strings attached” and will not affect passengers’ legal rights.

Recall that The crash occurred on Monday when Endeavor Air Flight 4819, operated by Delta, was attempting to land in Toronto after departing from Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The aircraft hit the runway hard, flipped upside down, and was engulfed in flames before coming to a halt.

Emergency responders treated various injuries, including back sprains, head trauma, anxiety, and headaches.

Delta reported that 21 passengers sustained injuries, but as of Wednesday morning, only one remained hospitalized.

Dramatic footage of the incident, verified by AFP, showed the Bombardier CRJ-900 slamming into the runway before rolling over, shedding its wings, and coming to rest on its roof.

Despite the terrifying crash, all 80 people on board—76 passengers and four crew members—survived.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the crash. Canada’s Transportation Safety Board is leading the probe, with assistance from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, Delta, and Mitsubishi, which now owns the CRJ aircraft line.

The Toronto crash adds to a recent series of aviation incidents in North America, including a deadly midair collision in Washington and a medical transport plane crash in Philadelphia.
