Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotun-Idris
YOUTHS of Tiv and Arewa yesterday advised President Muhammad Buhari to extend the tenure of the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris.
The youths who came under the aegis of Tiv Youth Council and Arewa Youth Assembly told newsmen at the press conference held in Makurdi that their call hinged on having free, fair and credible elections.
Comrade Mike Msuaan and Mohammed Salihu, president of Tiv Youth Council and speaker of Arewa Youth Assembly respectively said that removing the IG now would be dangerous to the security arrangements already set up for the general elections.

“Having a new IG at this crucial time will be dangerous to the security arrangements of the general elections considering the time frame.
“This decision of ours to call for the extension of tenure of IGP, Ibrahim Idris is born out of our desire to have free, fair and safe credible elections.
“There is no sentiment attached but rather, we are only reasoning to the voice of wisdom.
“We believe that this is the time for him to give in his very best of experience in this critical assignment, having been part and head of the security architectural design for the 2019 general elections.
“Replacing him at this time, therefore, will definitely distort the arrangement,” the groups said.
