Tinubu’s wife empowers 500 women in Niger

The wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered 500 women in Niger State with items such as deep-chest freezers, maxi gas cookers with microwave ovens, generator sets, and industrial grinding machines.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony of the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs/RHI Women Empowerment Programme in Bida, Senator Tinubu said the programme was designed to equip women with the necessary tools and resources to build successful businesses and contribute to the nation’s prosperity.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who was represented by the wife of the Niger State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago, said the programme, a collaboration between the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Renewed Hope Initiative, aims to benefit 18,500 women across the six geopolitical zones.

She revealed that the empowerment programme aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritizes inclusivity, economic growth, and sustainable development for all Nigerians, particularly women’s economic empowerment.

She encouraged the beneficiaries to use the resources given to them judiciously to start or grow their businesses, emphasizing that the items were meant to serve as a foundation for creating better lives for themselves and their families.

In her remarks, the Commissioner for Small and Medium Enterprises, Mrs. Elizabeth Shaba, advised the beneficiaries not to sell the items.

She commended the courage, bravery, and compassionate nature of Nigeria’s First Lady and the wife of the Niger State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago, whose efforts have positively impacted many lives in the state.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Hadiza Mohammed from Agaie LGA, Hajiya Lami Dalhatu, and Zainab Salihu from Bida LGA, expressed their gratitude for the kind gesture, stating that the items would improve their livelihoods and help them become self-reliant.
