President Bola Tinubu has announced plans to construct a new national secretariat for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.
Speaking during the 14th APC National Executive Committee meeting at the State House Conference Centre on Thursday, Tinubu said,
“We’ll look for an appropriate land to build a befitting secretariat.”
However, the president did not disclose how much the project would cost or when construction might begin.
The APC currently operates from Muhammadu Buhari House, located at 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja.
The building was named after former President Muhammadu Buhari in June 2021.
This came after the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee completed a N2.5 billion payment for the property.
The party moved its operations to the location later that year.
Although the last National Executive Committee meeting was held at Buhari House, Thursday’s emergency session took place at the Presidential Villa.
Tinubu’s announcement signals a shift towards expanding the party’s physical and political infrastructure as it plans for the future.
