President Bola Tinubu is set to host a closed-door meeting with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The high-stakes meeting at the instance of the President is scheduled to begin in the Conference Hall of the Presidential Villa, Thursday night.
The meeting brings together members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), the umbrella body of APC governors.
The meeting comes just hours ahead of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) session, which is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the State House Banquet Hall.
Chairman of the PGF and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, is expected to lead his 23 APC governor-colleagues to the engagement, which party insiders describe as “crucial,” given recent developments within the ruling party.
As of press time, Lagos State Governor; Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji had arrived at the venue, ahead of their counterparts.
President Tinubu is expected to use the meeting to update the governors on key Federal Government policy directions and brief them on the party’s internal agenda, particularly ongoing consultations around the emergence of a substantive APC National Chairman following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje last month.
Tonight’s deliberations are expected to significantly shape the tone and outcome of Thursday’s NEC meeting, where major leadership and organisational decisions are anticipated.
